7 Weeks!!

I can hardly believe it has been nearly two months since Ladd was born. He seems to be getting bigger (and chubbier)everyday and it makes me kind of sad, but Doug can't wait until he is big enough to wrestle... you know 6 months or so. The first picture is Ladd two days old and the second is 6 weeks.

Ladd is finally starting to smile back at us. It use to be mainly when he was asleep or passing gas, but after weeks of daily practice he is responding to us. These were our attempts to catch them on camera. Hopefully soon we will be able to get some real smiles.

How hot is it in Phoenix?

Joke of the day: How many gallons of water does it take to keep pepper plants alive in Phoenix?
Answer Below

There may be one or two of you who remember our post about the peppers. Well, here's the story behind them:

Doug likes homemade salsa, like most people, and thought it would be great to grow his own peppers. So, a few months ago he goes to the nursery down the street and asks about some pepper seeds. Instead of seeds the nice worker shows him some small pepper plants, they were about 4 inches high. As Doug looked over the peppers he noticed that the info card stated that the peppers should be kept in direct sunlight all day. Knowing that we only have direct sunlight on our porch for about 5 hours each morning Doug asks if this will do. The kind man assures him that 5 hours is plenty of sunlight.

For the last three months Doug has been watering and caring for the pepper plants everyday, hoping that any day now they'll sprout salsa making peppers. Unfortunately, Doug didn't see the fine print at the bottom of the care card. Next to the line that states "direct sunlight all day" there's an asterisk with the following warning: "In the Phoenix area only put plants in direct sunlight for 30 seconds a day to avoid nuclear scorching." Needless to say, the 5 hours of sunlight they were getting was way too much and now they're dead.

On a lighter note, Here are some pictures of Ladd celebrating the 4th at our ward breakfast! The funny thing is that he doesn't even know he went to ward breakfast this morning, what a good sleeper.

Answer to joke of the day: None, no pepper plants can grow in Phoenix regardless of how many gallons of water you give them.
