Happy Mother's Day to me

I had a wonderful Mother's Day. Doug and some friends planned a great BBQ- where Doug was in charge of the shish kabobs.  They were wonderful along with the fruit salad, green salad, mash potatoes, peach cobbler, and homemade strawberry ice cream.  I'm starting to think we should put our husbands in charge of all the meals.  It was really awesome.
The best part of Mother's Day is knowing that I get to be the mother of these two darling boys for eternity.  I love them!
PS- Ollie is 2 months in this picture and 13.5 lbs already! I love his rolls.

Gampa comes and a blessing

Doug's dad, Brad, came to visit us the first weekend in May for Oliver's baby blessing.  He drove 20+ hours and through a snow storm to get here and we loved having him.
Ollie's daddy gave him a beautiful blessing on May 3rd and we were so glad to have Grandpa there for this special occasion.

Ladd and Ollie adored their Gampa.
Ollie slept for hours on end in Brad's arms and Ladd wanted to be just like Gampa. Brad bought him his first cap and Ladd loves wearing it.  On Sunday afternoon we took a walk around Lake Camelot where eagle-eyed-grandpa pointed out various birds, turtles, and muskrats.  Ladd loved the animals, but mostly he loved his grandpa time.  I was also in big need of a break from my mom duties and Brad and Doug made sure I had plenty of kid-free time.  It was an awesome weekend and we can't wait until Grandpa Brad comes back!

There's more than one way to skin a cat...

and at least two ways in the Timothy household to get a strike. Ladd will demonstrate:

No. 1

No. 2

Love that kid!

Our Sweet Little Ollie

Our little Ollie is a sweet boy. He's only 9 weeks old but he's already a mama's boy. Every time he hears Darci's voice he starts smiling, I love it!

Picnic

The boys and I planned a picnic last week to go and visit daddy at work. We picked up some awesome sandwiches and shakes from Potbelly and went to a park about a block from Doug's work. It is in a charming little neighborhood and we had nearly the entire park to ourselves.
This picture displays the only part of the picnic Ladd participated in. He was too distracted by the playground, dog, and wide-open spaces to run.

This chair thing is the coolest thing I've see at a park. You barely get it going and every rotation it gets faster and faster.
Ladd's fun was momentarily stalled while running when his pants fell around his ankles. He, he.

I think this is the first family picture we have had taken. You can barely see Ollie's car seat in the background:)

I spent a good twenty minutes napping in the sun with my baby while Doug chased Ladd. Don't you just want to kiss those lips all day. I do!

Just what I needed to simmer down after spending a morning cleaning poop off the walls, carpet, bedding and bed in Ladd's room.

Out and about with 2!

Being parents of two little ones under 2 has been a big adjustment for Doug and me. We love our boys to pieces, but I think I can speak for both of us when I say that we have moments of feeling overwhelmed. Ladd is a great kid, but I hardly left the house with him while I was prego because he loves to run away and he is faster than any kid I know.

The first time I took the boys somewhere by myself was when Ollie was about 3 weeks and I had to take him to the doctor unexpectedly. I figured we'd be in and out pretty quickly so I packed up my bag with one toy and a couple of snacks. A short doctors visit turned into an nearly two hour visit. Ladd did fairly well as long as I could keep him contained in the small patient room, but every time someone walked in our room he darted down the long hallway and I'd have to go running after him with Ollie in my arms. I vowed not to take two kids to the doctors office anytime in the near future.

My second trip with the boys was to Target about 1 1/2 weeks later. I could hardly sleep the night before plotting how I was going to make this work. The trip went amazingly well and made me confident that we could go to the zoo last week.

Thanks to free tickets and Allie for inviting us, we all had a great time at the Minnesota Zoo. Ladd was happily leashed and Ollie slept nearly the entire time. YES, I leash my child and I'm confident that is the reason I am a sane mother, so I guess it works. Here is proof that we had a great time even though we only made it through 1/10th of the zoo.

I think I got overzealous this week in my abilities to manage two kids and went to the library (I could hardly do it with one). Thank goodness my neighbor Camie (9 months prego) was there to help me chase Ladd.
