Happy Halloween/Biggest Nightmare !!

The only two peices of candy Ladd got trick-or-treating.

My two little monkeys. Aren't they cute!

Where's monkey? (Gee I'm short)

The whole family.

This morning we headed out for some early trick-or-treating at Doug's school. The administration let all of us mom's parade our kids around the school while they handed out candy. Ladd was super tired, but he still made everyone smile. I took the monkey suit off a couple of times because the temperature was in the high 80's (that's not Halloween!). Biggest disappointment of the day - most of the people handing out candy noticed that Ladd was too young to eat candy and didn't offer it. Hello!! He still has two hungry parents. I can't wait until next year, Ladd will be old enough to eat candy, but young enough that he won't even notice when his parents swipe all the good stuff.
Tonight we went to the Trunk-or-Treat at our ward and stayed for about 30 minutes before Doug had to get back to class. Doug dropped us off at the apartment at 6 and that's when it happened.. my biggest nightmare came true..... I tripped up the stairs while carrying Ladd. Luckily my motherly instincts kicked in and the fall barely even phased Ladd. Regardless, I hurriedly brought Ladd in and took off all his clothes to inspect any damage and he had a little tiny red line on his back and a big smile. Relieved, I began looking over my battle wounds - one scrapped elbow, two scraped knees, and one seriously bruised shin. Biggest blessing of the day- Ladd's ridiculously plush costume cushioned the fall.
Happy Halloween Everyone!!
So cute I had to share.....

Everything is bigger in Texas (including little boys)

Last week me and Ladd flew out to visit my friend Cassie, in Austin, TX, while our husbands were traveling (yes, Doug was out of town again). It was sooo much fun, it was like a marathon sleepover!! It is amazing how much time has passed and we still have so much in common and way too much to talk about. She has a little boy about the same age as Ladd and they were so cute together. Both of them are healthy size and I thought this would be a fun time to show-off Ladd's rolls and his new friend. Here are our big boys.
This was the first time I've traveled with Ladd and I was really worried about sitting next to some creepy man while nursing. When I got to my seat my heart sank when I saw this huge black man sporting several heavy gold chains in my row. Luckily he was really nice and we had the only empty seat between us. Ladd did great on both flights.

Thank you so much Cassie and Jordan, we had so much fun!

Parent of 2

These last couple of weeks have been busy. Last week I watched my niece Addison while her parents were on vacation and I just wanted to give a big pat on the back to all those parents out there with more than one child. It is hard work! Half-way through the week I decided we needed to get out of the house and play. Bad idea! It took me nearly 15 minutes to get down the three flights of stairs from our apartment. Just imagine me carrying Ladd in his car seat, 2 diaper bags, and my 15-month-old niece down the stairs. I would run down half a flight of stairs with Addison put her down and go back up to pick up Ladd all the while yelling at Addie to stay put. I repeated this more than 6 times. I must have looked ridiculous. I then spent 15 minutes loading them into the car. We went to the mall to play for a short time before both kids were screaming just to repeat the whole process of loading and making it up the stairs. Needless to say the week was full of similar experiences from putting the babies to bed and eating, but I guess it was good practice for some distant day when I have two kids. It was an exhausting week and I didn't even take any pictures of the kids together because I didn't want Addie's mom to see how bad her hair looked all week.

On my mind..

Well, Doug is gone on another trip again and of course I'm missing him. I'm not sure why, but when he is gone I am super unproductive, unless you consider blogging productive. So instead of cleaning my home I've decided to bore you with the unimportant thoughts on my mind.

1. I wish that when I bought ice cream or a bag of cookies I did not justify eating them all in two days with, "Well I could eat them all right now or over the course of the next two weeks. What's the difference, either way I'm going to eat them all?" (Yes, I'm still working on the pregnancy weight, or better said waiting for it to effortlessly disappear).

2. Why do I have bittersweet feelings about Ladd getting older? I enjoy him more and more each day, but at the same time I'm sad that he's getting bigger.

3. I love Costco. I try and figure out a reason to go there every week, especially now that they have all their Christmas stuff out.

4. Speaking of Christmas, I'm already sick-to-my-stomach excited about Christmas. Only 76 more days!

Personality

I asked Ladd to pose for these pictures. He's a natural! He must take after his mom, after all I did model for an English text book when I was 6.

Me: "Look kind of shy."

Me: "Now, try and look pensive"

Me: "Last one, try and look silly and cute"

Sunday Walk

Doug got home from a trip last night and me and Ladd are enjoying having him around again. Sundays seem to be the only day that we are able to spend some nice leisurely time as a family. Today, after conference, we went on a little walk at a park near us. It has a lake that winds around the huge park. It is so pretty and it was cool enough that I brought a jacket. Ok, it was still like 84 degrees, but once it hits 79 I'm breaking out the long sleeves.

Fun in the Sun

I can finally brag that we live in beautiful weather again. Today was in 90's and Carly and Addison came over to swim with me and Ladd. It is the first time I have ever taken him in the pool and he seemed to really enjoy..... or rather tolerate it. He actually preferred sunbathing afterwards as you can see. He is such a content baby. Thanks Car and Addie for making this afternoon so much fun.

Sneak Peek

I know Halloween is still a month away, but I was having a hard time deciding if Ladd should be a duckling or a monkey for Halloween. So just for fun (or torture) I decided that the only way to decide was to have him try them on. Can you tell which one he liked better?

He screamed and thrashed the entire time he had the duckling costume on. The moment I took it off a huge smile spread across his face. I expected the same to happen with the monkey suit, but it looks like our boy was born to be a monkey.
